​The Smooth Operation Project is jazz from Flint’s finest. Drawing inspiration from smooth jazz, the band fuses Detroit’s jazz-funk heritage with Flint’s own unique sounds. Led by drummer and percussionist Steve Banks, Smooth Operation has been a fixture in the Detroit and Flint jazz scenes for over 15 years. The group has played festivals, clubs, and events across the Midwest and has opened for artists such as Kayla Waters and Grammy Award-winner Bob James.
